Registration Essentials

- Signing Remotely : the company registration documents may be signed with an electronic signature issued by the relevant competent authority or personally by the founder and board member in the presence of a certified notary or by the founder’s representative based on a power of attorney (Electronically or in Person )

RESIDENCE PERMIT
Main requirementsÂ
- Establish or buy a ready-made company or co-invest in a successful Latvian company.
- Invest minimum Euro 2800 as capital in your company if you are starting your own business
- Have a business plan. Not needed when you agree to invest in a successfully operating Latvian company
- Prepare an employment contract to work for your company and employ yourself. Or between you and the company you are investing into.
- Your position must be advertised with the Labor Department for a minimum of 10 days before you become eligible to apply for a work and residence permit.
- Have a University degree to match the type of work to be performed or proof of minimum three years of employment experience related to the work you plan to perform ( even if you are a business owner in your own country, you must prove your experience )
MOST IMPORTANT
- A minimum salary of Euro 1537 gross and minimum monthly tax of around Euro 806 to be paid by your employer / or you pay to yourself, from your own company capital & turnover. This is the minimum to maintain your residency in Latvia. There may also required some additional cost associated with administration and accounting services.Â
SUBMISSION OF THE RESIDENCE APPLICATION
- At the time of submission of all documentation (passport, residence permit at the time of submission of the application) Applicant must be physically in Latvia or at least within the European Union (a scan copy of the passport with the entry stamp into Europe will be requested to justify the fact)
- Once the documentation and the application have been submitted, you have to wait for the Immigration resolution, Granted or Denied, approximate waiting time 2 weeks.
- If the Resolution is favourable and the residence permit is granted, an appointment will be requested for biometric data (fingerprint registration). After 2 or 3 days from the day of registration of the fingerprint, the Applicant must appear, again, in person to receive the Resident Card. During these 2 or 3 days, the Applicant must remain in the country until he or she receives the Resident Card.
- The Residence Card is issued for a period of one year. After the year, Applicant must appear in person at the Immigration offices in Riga for renewal.
